College Basketball
What’s up with college basketball this year? I mean does everyone see the same thing that I see? The quality of the game is way down this year. The only guys the game has worth sneezing about is Blake Griffin, Stephen Curry, Tyler Hansbrough maybe Gerald Henderson. I mean take a good look at the crop of players in the college game, not much to pick from. The NBA draft this year is going to be way down with a couple good picks and then everything else is a wash. Where is the buzz? It’s not like the old days when you would miss anything to watch the Duke verse North Caroline match up. The game to me for some reason doesn’t have the talent level that it uses to. They need to market the game better to get fans more interested because the players are not doing the job.

Take your eyes off of the ACC.
There is always great basketball being played. Sometimes you have to find it.
I just got back from your mom's basement.

Whether or not your point is valid, I think it’s been a great year. Parity has been the word of the year, as a new number 1 is crowned virtually every week, and even more have an argument that they should be the one on top. I think it’s been one of the best years to watch college basketball.
Go, fight, and win.

thanks john23, i agree CBB is down this year
i just browsed over these responses, but i agree with the idea 100 percent. three things stick out that tell me were in a down year: the bubble is weak, the draft will be soft, and i can’t really recall more than 3 games that had were fun to watch from start to finish.
- the fact gtown is on the bubble amazes me. sure they have the country’s toughest schedule, but they’re 6-10 in the conference. thats a joke. we’ve said before that they lead the nation in missed opportunities.
look at michigan – they were all the rage of a bubble team yesterday on gameday, but went through a stretch where they went 2 – 7. any other year both these teams are not even in the equation.
- the freshman class is very marginal compared to years past. brandon jennings was the 08 class gem— he’s only getting around 7 points a game overseas. granted its an remarakable transition to make from high school to professional play in a foreign country, but his skill isn’t at the level where he can just have his way with people over there. tyreke evans appears to be the frontrunner for frosh of the year, but the dude is just figuring how to hit a jump shot. not too impressed with him yet.
- what games have people watched that really stuck out this year? i can only think of duke – wake round 1, kentucky – louisville, and gonzaga – uconn. i think the lack of playmakers this year have been the cause for lack of ‘wow factor’ games.
im glad someone brought this up. always wanted to post about it, but never really got around to it. sorry this might read bad, it’s sunday morning so forgive me. but thanks john23 for this fanpost.

I guess that's why you're probably an NBA fan
Because you backed up your conclusion that college basketball is way down by listing how many individual players you thought were worth watching. College basketball isn’t about individual stars; it’s about team basketball — which is why your initial statement is flawed.
Watching one guy break down a defense and jack up a shot is not good basketball to me, and that’s why I prefer the college game — which is as awesome as ever.
