Big East and Big 12 Bedtime Stories

Big East:

  • Notre Dame - West Virginia.  This game sealed the deal on the destiny of two teams.  WVU stamped their RSVP to the Dance and Notre Dame started looking for more hotels near the Garden...for the NIT.  Notre Dame spotted West Virginia the first seven points of the game and it should have been the other way around, because the Mountaineers poured it on.  Pittsburgh now awaits the Mountaineers for a backyard brawl.
  • Syracuse - Seton Hall.  This is the first time in a long time that the 'Cuse have gone into the Big East tourney without being on the bubble.  With a relaxed mentality, the Orange were able to run and gun for more than 25 fast break points in their win over Seton Hall.  Jonny Flynn dropped 19 points and dished out 11 assists.

Big 12:

  • Oklahoma State - Iowa State.  Oklahoma State is peeking at just the right time.  Their victory over the irrelevant Cyclones now gives the Cowboys seven victories in their last eight hardwood battles.  Craig Brackins got his 15th double double on the season with his 23 points and 12 boards.
  • Texas A&M - Texas Tech.  Texas A&M was piecing together a nice resume.  They had a win over LSU and had rolled off six straight to finish the season.  However, they were unable to lock in on a seemingly easy 7th straight.  The Aggies jumped out to a 48-29 halftime lead, but that would not be enough.  The Red Raiders charged all they way back led by Mike Singletary's 43 points, 29 of them coming in a nine minute stretch.  A&M put their resume through the wash tonight blowing a 19 point lead to inferior competition and now their view of the tournament looks hazy.
