Utah State wins, period. The Aggies have registered 30 wins this year but their latest, a 72-62 victory over Nevada in the WAC final, put them at ease when thinking about NCAA tournament status. The Agricultural fiends admited that they were treating the WAC chamopionship as their only entry point to the Big Dance.
Utah State put the clamps on Nevada with six minutes to go, holding the Wolfpack scoreless during that span. Not only was the defense clicking but the Aggies shot 50 percent from the floor.
More on this possible Cinderella after the jump.
Location: Logan, UT
Enrollment: 13,179
Record: 30-4 (14-2)
Leading Scorers: Gary Wilkinson (17.1 ppg), Jared Quayle (12.9 ppg), Tai Wesley (11.9 ppg)
What to know:
- Utah State has been in question all year despite their stellar record, due to the fact that they have no games versus a Top 25 team and they were only 1-2 versus the Top 50.
- The Aggies are efficient. They average a nation's best 1.17 points per possession, which is in direct correlation with their nation's best 49.8 percent field goal shooting.
Projection: Utah State will be looking at an 8 or a 9 seed and provides everyone with a possible "sexy pick" to knock off a number one seed in the second round.
