Things we missed while ringing in the new year
- Oklahoma freshman Tiny Gallon, who hovers around the 300 pound mark, shattered the backboard against Gonzaga, causing a 52-minute delay. Happy New Year Spokane!
- Villanova's Mouphtaou Yarou has been cleared to play, after being diagnosed with hepatitis B (um, gross) last month. It was initially expected that Yarou, a 6'10" freshman forward capable of starting in his first season with the Wildcats, would miss the entire season. He's expected to return to action Wednesday at home against DePaul and could fill a huge void in Jay Wright's thin frontcourt.
- Former Kentucky and Illinois guard Alex Legion has found a new home. The former Parade All-American guard has signed on to play for Isiah Thomas at Florida International. With the emergence of Fighting Illini freshman Brandon Paul and D.J. Richardson, and what was likely a sour relationship with Bruce Weber, Legion's time in Champaign seemed to have expired. He will have 1.5 years of eligibility remaining at FIU.
