West Virginia still rife with awful people, white trash
So last night West Virginia got a nice win over Pittsburgh in the hardwood version of the Backyard Brawl. Winners of six of their last seven, the Mountaineers are well positioned for Monday's showdown with Villanova. But their fans are still pretty crappy people, raised by equally crappy and unsightly parents.
As members of the student section heaved bottles, loose change and other forms of debris onto the court, Pitt assistant coach Tom Herrion was hit in the face, much to the chagrin of Coach Huggins...
This comes on the heels of some high-clarity profanity chants during the Ohio State game a few weekends ago, leaving Da'Sean Butler to tell the Charleston Gazette: "It shows people outside our state that we don't have class. That's not what we're about as a team or a state. It gives us a bad name."
Now I've driven through West Virginia a few times, and I always made a point to empty my bladder and get some food before crossing the state line. It's an atrocious place, where the best thing to do is leave and never come back.

This is a pathetic opinion
beautiful. The fact that you base your judgements of an entire state on the actions of a handful of snotty Jersey/New York students who go to basketball and football games with the sole purpose of causing chaos is really rich. And I’d check your facts before writing such an article. I was in the student section. Yes the few students threw towels and plastic bottles onto the court. This is disgusting and made our SCHOOL (not state) look bad. But the coin that hit Panthers coach Tom Herrian in the face was 1) not throw by the student section 2) actually thrown (if you watch the video) by a member of the pitt fan section behind their own bench, in an attempt to hit the official stand behind the coach.
So before you cast such a dark cloud over an entire state, you should check yourself first. This is a sad article, and it seems like given the chance YOU would be the type of person in a crowd that WOULD be throwing stuff onto the court.
You are just as bad...
Why blame it on “snotty Jersey/New York students” ? That makes you as much of a douchebag as the guy who wrote this crappy article. Shame on both of you.
i wasn’t licensed. i’m just a blogger. it’s easy to take a dump on something like this. had, for example, ucla students done the same thing, i’d probably just say ‘kids being kids’ and move on. but when it’s west virginia, a state that’s pretty easy to take shots at, then i run with it. clearly, i’ve gotten your attention.
Bravo.

Way to take the path of least resistance and recycle jokes. Just an outstanding job in blogging. You give us all a good name.
When you come up with something original and funny, let me know.

recycling jokes
funny… when “the smoking musket” actually provides some actual insight into a West Virginia win or loss, instead of just “throwdown/shotgun/beerchug/burning couch/scantily clad chick” whatever day of the week it is, let us know please.

Everyone say all they want...
This is not the first time this has happened at West Virginia, and I doubt it will be the last. Fact is, Syracuse students threw garbage at Georgetown students last year. It happens at one point or another everyplace. It just seems to happen a lot more often at WVU. But whatever, WVU fans will turn the other cheek and blame everyone else and say “IT WAS A RIVALRY GAME!” I guess its unfair to criticize a whole group of people for throwing trash on playing fields/courts and at opposing players/coaches when it happens over and over again for decades at a time….
