Michigan State (-3) over Purdue- Big 10 powerhouses meet in Lansing as #10 Michigan State tries to avoid their third straight loss against the visiting Purdue Boilermakers. The #6 Boilermakers have an experienced bunch led by junior Robbie Hummel who has been a model of consistency so far. The Spartan faithful will welcome back their team, while the team hopes to welcome back injured star guard Kalin Lucas. With Lucas on the court, MSU will win this one. Without him, Purdue wins. Prediction: Lucas guts it out and the Spartans hang on to the conference's top spot.
Tennessee (+3) over Vanderbilt- The bench on the Tennessee sideline baseline will be at full strength (minus Tyler Smith) for the first time since the New Year's Day 'hot box' fiasco. It is a crucial stretch for the Volunteers, who have a chance to really raise their tournament stock in the next two games. Their speed, athleticism, and depth will be too much for Vandy to handle tonight, as Bruce Pearl will have his boys primed to avenge the home loss from two weeks ago. The Vols must take care of their business tonight before looking ahead to Saturday's matchup in Lexington.
George Mason (+4) over Virginia Commonwealth- These Colonial rivals are both fighting to build their tournament resume, and tonight's result could determine which team will stay on the bubble. George Mason's 15-9 record is slightly deceiving. Had their one point losses to Villanova and Dayton gone the other way, the Patriots would be a near-lock for an NCAA bid. With work left to do, they must defend home court tonight against Larry Sanders and the VCU Rams.
