College Basketball Vegas Odds and Picks: December 30th

I went 6-6 with my last picks, moving me to 43-42 on the season. Time to boost my RPI a little bit, so let's jump right into tonight's picks.

7:00pm ESPNU: No. 8 Missouri (-8) @ Old Dominion

I find it patently ridiculous that Mizzou hasn't played a true road game until tonight. But with the Tigers facing five of their next eight away from home, I expect Marcus Denmon & Co. to make a statement against an ODU team that is tough as nails but doesn't have the firepower to keep up.

8:00pm ESPN3: No. 21 Murray State (-9) @ Eastern Illinois

I think we can all agree that Murray State is heavily overrated considering a pretty weak schedule and trouble winning away from home - 64-62 at Alaska Anchorage? Really? - but this isn't the game to blemish their undefeated season and Eastern Illinois isn't a team that can stay within striking distance.

7:00pm: Ole Miss @ Dayton (-4.5)

Dayton has, at times, looked like a serious team. Other times, like a 29-point home loss to Buffalo and last week's 7-point win over UIC, not. Which one will we see tonight? Ole Miss rebounds tough but doesn't do much else very well. Stick with the Flyers.

9:00pm ESPN2: West Virginia (+1) @ Seton Hall

The Mountaineers are playing inspired ball right now and Kevin Jones is skyrocketing up NBA draft boards. They don't play up or down to their competition - they're just going to come out and ball every night and they could be headed toward a healthy national ranking if they keep it up. Seton Hall also has considerable momentum coming into tonight and they'll look to avenge a blowout loss to Syracuse on Wednesday, but I don't see Herb Pope and Jordan Theodore being able to stop the West Virginia train.

8:00pm: Oakland @ South Dakota State (-6.5)

Oakland has proven themselves to be completely one-dimensional behind Reggie Hamilton's scoring and have allowed 80, 85, 91 and 96 points in their last four games, three of them losses. South Dakota State looks like the class of the Summit League and will make short work of their struggling opponents tonight.
