With the recent deal between players and owners looking to have finally ended the impending NBA lockout, fans around the country breathed a collective sigh of relief. The 2011-2012 NBA season looks set to go forward as planned, and teams across the country will commence training and making transfer deals in the coming days. As would be expected, the Knicks schedule is an intriguing one with several home games standing out as notable ones that will be among the top sellers of New York Knicks Tickets this year. Here’s a look at some of the big matchups that NBA fans will be drooling over.

Boston comes to town for the holidays, Dec. 25: Boston and New York aren’t exactly known for their holiday spirit when facing off against one another, whether it’s baseball with the Yankees and Red Sox or whether it’s Knicks vs. Celtics. To open the season, the Knicks will host the Celtics in a game that should be a good barometer of how well the Knicks are able to score against one of the best defensive units in the game.

Knicks take on the Denver Nuggets , Jan. 21: When the Denver Nuggets come to town in late January, they will likely bring a slate of ex-Knicks players with them, including Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and Timofey Mozgov. With all three having only been traded last February, there could be bad feelings remaining which should make for some interesting subplots on the court.

Will Carmelo Anthony light up his former team? Groundhog Day, Feb. 2: With Derrick Rose leading the way, the Bulls come to down on Groundhog Day to see if they can take down the Knicks. Once again, the Knicks will have to face an elite defensive unit and this one will show fans whether or not the Knicks have the talent to compete with the well-rounded Bulls. After Michael Jordan and his Bulls stomped all over again the Knicks for years, here’s a chance to break the cycle. What better day to do that than Groundhog Day. If only they could persuade Bill Murray to come to the game.

Knicks welcome Kobe Bryant and the Lakers, Feb, 10: Wherever you are, it's always an event when Kobe and the Lakers come to town. The Lakers are looking to change their roster a little bit, but they certainly will have plenty of talent no matter who is wearing Laker gold when they come to town. With the Lakers bringing another great roster to New York, Knicks fans might even start dreaming about a potential NBA Finals matchup.

Knicks Take on the Miami Heat, April 15: By the time game number 60 rolls around, this clash between the Knicks and the visiting Miami Heat could have potential playoff implications. With the Heat comes the powerhouse trio of LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. James, who spurned New York before joining the Heat, isn't accustomed to getting the warmest reception when he visits the Garden, and this one should be no exception.
